Willis and Bauld Sign

Colin Cameron has added another two signings to his squad. 22 year old winger/midfielder Paul Willis (6’ 2”) the former Dunfermline and East Fife player has signed as has 17 year old defender Euan Bauld (6’) from Hibernian.  Both players featured on Saturday past v Dunfermline and both will be valuable additions to the squad which has expanded quickly in the recent weeks. Winger Ross Gray could well be out of action for several weeks after sustaining a knee injury v Dunfermline and the club awaits further reports.

Berwick’s final pre-season match ended in a narrow defeat to League One outfit Dunfermline with the greatest concern being a medial ligament injury to wide man Ross Gray and several other players picking up knocks. Shaun Byrne opened the scoring for the visitors on 14 minutes after great work from former on-loan Berwick man Ross Drummond but Scott Maxwell equalised for the Gers 12 minutes later after a superb, flowing move.


Summer Football Coaching Programme for Kids

The Summer football coaching programme for kids: will be run on behalf of the football club by Aspire Sporting Academy and Pro-Motiv8 (lead coach Dean Gordon of Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace). It will run for 3 days each week for four weeks (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) starting Tuesday 22nd July.


Whitehill Welfare 2-1 Berwick Rangers

Whitehill Welfare fully deserved their 2-1 win against an experimental Berwick side at Ferguson Park. Berwick found themselves a goal down after half-an-hour when Kerr Dodds opened the scoring. Rangers drew level when a trialist paved the way for Dean Carse to score. However, Steven Manson restored the home side’s lead on the hour after a Danny Noon assist.

Berwick Rangers seek a Chartered Physio or Sports Therapist (who meets SFA Club Licence requirements) for first team duties including 2 midweek training sessions in Edinburgh area. Salary to be negotiated but in first instance email full cv to club at  or in writing to Shielfield Park, Tweedmouth, Berwick upon Tweed TD15 2EF. Current Chartered Physio Jamie Dougall is moving on due to his new work commitments.

SPFL Development League Fixtures Released

The fixtures for the SPFL Development League East and West have now been finalised, with the season kicking off in the first midweek in September. There are nine clubs in each section, playing each other three times for a total of 24 matches. The winners of each division will then take part in a two-legged play-off.


Berwick Rangers 0-4 Hibernian

Goals from David Gray, Liam Craig, Tom Gardiner and Lewis Allan ensured it was a comfortable and productive afternoon for Hibernian at Shielfield Park. The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges but had to wait until the 13th minute for their first real chance. Paul Hanlon got behind the Berwick defence on the left and cut the ball back for Lewis Stevenson, but his well-struck effort was blocked by Stephen Tulloch.


Lee Currie Signs New Contract

Last season's top scorerer Lee Currie has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract, much to the delight of everyone at Shielfield Park. Lee had been on trial with Hearts, playing twice as a trialist in their recent pre-season tour, but failed to win a contract with the Tynecastle club.


Scottish League Cup First Round Draw

The first round draw for the Scottish League Cup was made this afternnoon by Danny Lennon and Kenny Shiels at the Bet Butler Stadium, home of Dumbarton FC, with Berwick Rangers paired with Morton at Cappielow on Saturday 2nd August.
