Berwick suffered a pre-Christmas setback when they were beaten by league leaders Arbroath at Gayfield. It was the second time this season the Angus side had beaten them and the defeat leaves Berwick in sixth place in the table, two points behind the play-off places. Arbroath stretched their lead to five points clear at the top of the table.

Tom Mealyou

Berwick Rangers are saddened to hear of the death of former goalkeeper Tom Mealyou on December 7th. Tom signed for Berwick on August 17th 1963 from Arniston Rangers and made his debut on September 21st in a 2-2 draw against Stenhousemuir at Shielfield Park. Two weeks later he replaced the injured Jocky Robertson between the posts in the League Cup semi-final against Rangers at Hampden Park.

On the Road Again

Berwick head to Gayfield Park tomorrow (Saturday 20th December KO 3pm) to face current leaders Arbroath. The last time the clubs met was in the seasonal league opener at Shielfield on Saturday. Berwick looked in control that day leading via a Paul Willis goal at half time only for the visitors to hit back with goals in 53 and 60 minutes from Buchan and McManus to take the three points.

The match in Round Five between The Spartans FC and Berwick Rangers has now been confirmed to take place at Ainslie Park, Edinburgh on Saturday 7th February 2015 with a 3pm kick-off. More news will be released later on this game and details.

Elgin Game Postponed

The scheduled SPFL game at Elgin tomorrow has been postponed following an official SPFL pitch inspection at 3.30pm today (Friday 12th). There is no re scheduling date at present. Elgin had been hit by snow and rain and the Boroughbriggs ground has lying slush and water this afternoon and very heavy.

A Scottish Cup fifth round tie against Spartans awaits for Berwick after a late goal from Andy Russell saw off Albion Rovers in a fantastic, battling team performance. The first half was goalless and when Marc McKenzie’s shot rattled the underside of the bar, Berwick opened the scoring moments later in the 80th minute through in-form striker Russell.

Youth Groups Visit Shielfield

Members of Berwick Juniors Football Club who were guests of Berwick Rangers F.C. at Shielfield last Saturday (December 6th) for the home SPFL 2 match against Clyde. The children were shown around the stadium and met players and staff before watching Berwick win the game 4-0.

Berwick Rangers 4-0 Clyde

Berwick recorded a morale-boosting home win and moved up to fifth in Scottish League Two after putting four goals past 10-man Clyde. Andy Russell puts the Gers in front on 27 minutes and after Lee Currie missed a penalty on the stroke of half-time, he responded by netting two minutes after the break.
